After 5 years of taking tenoretic for high blood pressure, is there an alternative natural remedy?

I would like to stop taking the chemical medicine and seek a natural holistic approach to controlling blood pressure. I have been on these pills (tenoretic) since October 2002. The side effects is a high price to pay for controlling blood pressure. I have heard that one will never be able to safely stop taking blood pressure medications. I do not want another substitute chemical as an alternative.

    Mother Nature's Amazing Ayurvedic Energiser
A popular folk saying in India says , "No mother? Do not worry so long as you have triphala."

The recipe for this traditional herbal supplement dates back thousands of years and is referenced in the traditional Indian texts the Charak and Sushrut Samhitas. Triphala is considered a 'tridoshic rasayan', having balancing and rejuvenating effects on the three constitutional elements that govern human life: Vata which regulates the nervous system, Pitta which maintains metabolic processes, and Kapha which supports structural integrity.

Triphala is one of the most popular herbal remedies which 'cleanse' by promoting bowel movement. A reason is that one of the most common problems among many individuals is constipation and bowel irregularity. This can lead to poorer general digestion and liver function, less vitality and perhaps even less optimism and an overall poorer outlook and quality of life.

Triphala combines both nutritional as well as blood and liver cleansing (detoxifying) actions. It has little function as a local demulcent but is more of a lubricating source of nourishment and also possesses some bitter anthroquinones which help stimulate bile flow and peristalsis. The nutritional aspect is partly in the form of its bioflavonoids, high vitamin C content and the presence of linoleic oil, phospholipids and other important

nutrients which it makes more of a tonic. Because of its high nutritional content, Ayurvedic doctors generally do not regard Triphala as a mere laxative. Some of the scientific research and practical experience of people using it down through the ages has demonstrated that triphala is an effective blood purifier that stimulates bile secretion as it detoxifies the liver, helps digestion and assimilation, and significantly reduces serum cholesterol and lipid levels throughout body. As a result, it is regarded as a kind of universal panacea and is the most commonly prescribed herbal formula.

Consider how tremendously valuable a formula would be that not only regulates bowel movement but at the same time does the following things:

    improves digestion
    is antioxidant rich
improves circulation (cardiotonic and capillary strengthening flavonoids)
potentiates adrenergic function (helps the body recover from stress)
contains linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid) and phospholipids
    lowers blood pressure
    exerts a marked heart-protective and cardio-tonic effect
    reduces serum cholesterol
improves liver function and is liver protective
is anti-inflammatory (constituents include Vit. C and quercetin)
    is expectorant
has anti-viral (HIV, AIDS, herpes, CMV) properties
    has anti-bacterial properties
    has anti-cancer properties
    has anti-allergy properties
Ingredients: - Whole powdered fruits and/or herbal (fruit) extracts of Beleric myrobalan ie.Vibhitaki or Behada,
Chebulic myrobalan (Terminalia chebula)Harada or Haritaki and Emblic myrobalan (Indian Gooseberry)Amala or Amalaki.

Amalaki, Emblica Officinalis, is one of Ayurveda's greatest rejuvenators and a strong natural anti-oxidant, also helps to boost the immune system. Balances Pitta.

Haritaki, Terminalia Chebula, the Tibetan "king of medicine",is a classic heart-brain-longevity tonic,it is often depicted in the extended palm of the Buddha. Balances Vata.

Bibhitaki, Terminalia Belerica, a powerful rejuvenative that reduces liver and heart disease, also improves the voice, vision and promotes the growth of hair. Balances Kapha.

High Blood pressure is not to be toyed with, it can be a killer you already know this….Seek a clinic or medical group that
offers alternative, heomeopathic and natural cures as well as
allopathic medicine, they will give you many options and your condition will be well supervised. Personally I have done Chelation and used Holy Basil from the http://www.newchapter.info company. Both have helped, mine is both physical and emotional oriented and I am still working to get it down, but it is on it's way. There are also many foods such as garlic that assist, no salt, along with regular exercise, meditation and keeping weight down.
We create our own reality. We are our thoughts and think our
physical into being what we desire it to be ( it takes time to do but we can unprogram our belief system regarding the physical).
Good luck, it is one of those longer roads but can be done.

I have read that you should check if your magnesium level is ok-
(bloodtest) Magnesium reduces high BP. So does weight loss and exercise.

There are a few things you could do for your high BP. The one that will work fastest, and unfailingly is cayenne pepper. I have had miracles with it. It will naturally adjust the blood, and BP, whether it be too thick, too thin, too high, or too low. It will build your heart, and prevent stroke, and more.
You would need a high IHU (international heat unit), at least 45k, but higher if you can get it. You can take it in capsules but I don't recommend it unless you absolutely can't take it any other way as this is a surprise attack to your stomach. Best if your salivary glands can send a heads up.
Star with about 1/4 tsp in a cup of clear liquid (I like to put it in water with a little lime and sometimes a bit of stevia), and work up to 1 tsp. 3X a day.

Hi genesischild, research has shown that a high blood pressure diet can effectively prevent blood pressure from rising above normal.

High blood pressure diets are designed to decrease sodium, increase potassium, and lessen calories. This way you will maintain a reasonable weight. This diet consists of foods that are delicious and low in fat such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products and lean proteins.

Here are some simple tips to help you follow your high blood pressure diet guidelines:

    1. Make sure you eat a healthy breakfast. Eating in the morning will increase your energy and will help you avoid snacks before lunch. A quick breakfast can be as easy as a bowl of cereal, a slice of whole-wheat toast, cereal bar or fresh fruit.

    2. When following your high blood pressure diet, your daily food intake must include foods from five food groups:

    * Protein: Eat meats that are lower in fat, such as chicken, turkey, tuna, or low-fat luncheon meats. Make salads with a low fat meat or vegetables and light salad dressing.

    * Grains: Always try eating a whole wheat version of your favorite bread, be it a loaf, a bagel or a roll.

    * Vegetables: Eat tomatoes, peppers, baby carrots and other colorful vegetables as many as you like. The brighter the vegetable, the more antioxidant vitamin A it contains.

    * Fruits: Fruits should be eaten fresh. Fruit has fiber and healthy calories, and you will want to eat less during the day. Juice has fructose which fills up with energy. That’s why juice should become a part of a healthy breakfast along with a cereal.

    * Dairy: Try low-fat or non-fat milk, non-fat chocolate milk, and low-fat cheese. Basically, any type of cottage cheese or yogurt goes well with fruit. Full Article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/High_Blood_Pressure_Diet_Guidelines/

Start an exercise program. The exercise program must be gradual, regular and aerobic in nature (walking/cycling). Start by walking 5 days per week, for 10-20 minutes. Something as simple as walking 10 minutes per day can reduce blood pressure to the extent where medication is no longer required.

Give up smoking (or at least cut down!). Giving up smoking has been proven to be the greatest single factor in improving your health fast.

High blood pressure does not have to be a death sentence. Give it the respect it deserves and it just may turn out to be a positive turning point.

I realize that all the natural recommendations are meant well but I'm afraid most of these have very low odds of success. High blood pressure has serious consequences and I believe in sticking with things that are medically proven. Slow breathing is the only natural method to lower blood pressure clinically proven using the same testing methods as drugs.
I can also confirm personally that it works wonders and I've witnessed several cases of people who used it to give up many years of dependence on medications.
Slow breathing only takes 15 minutes a day. Despite the name there's more to it than just breathing slowly, although the method is super simple and enjoyable.
Check the website below for a free online demo and instructions. You can also read about someone who has given up blood pressure drugs by using it.

I have used clay for 3 years and it is very good for me…I recommend it because it is a natural remedy and it has no side effects…you can try to buy it in Naturist Shops and it is a sort of powder that you put into tea, stir using a wooden spoon and drink the mixture before eating…At the beginning you will not feel any change, but if you keep taking it, once a day, after a while you will feel better…this clay is working so great, it finds the ill organ and sticks to it, healing it in time…but you must be a non-alcoholic person…check these sites:
