If this is a correct and true blood pressure and the cuff was not malfunctioning, you need to make an appt immediately with your doctor. They don't call high blood pressure the "silent killer" for nothing. Go soon, please.

"Hypertension" is the medical term for high blood pressure. High blood pressure that has no known cause is called primary, or essential, hypertension. This type of high blood pressure is the most common and responds well to lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, dietary changes, exercise, and stress reduction. Natural treatment of essential hypertension can bring blood pressure values into the normal range; however, if lifestyle changes are not maintained, hypertension will probably return. Secondary hypertension has an organic cause (i.e., kidney disease, pregnancy) and must be evaluated and monitored by a physician since the underlying cause must also be addressed.
Nutrition
Hypertensive people can remarkably reduce their blood pressure through nutritional changes. Increasing the amount of vegetables and fruit and reducing the amount of fat and cholesterol will not only reduce blood pressure but can help with weight loss, which also lowers blood pressure.
* Eat whole, fresh, unrefined, and unprocessed foods. Include fruits, vegetables, garlic, onion, whole grains, soy, beans, seeds, nuts, olive oil, and cold-water fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, and mackerel).
* Low sodium-high potassium diet. Most people are aware that reducing sodium (salt) intake can help reduce blood pressure. However, that may not be the whole picture. Restricting sodium intake to lower blood pressure appears to work better if accompanied by increasing potassium intake. Keep in mind that reducing sodium intake involves more than not using a salt shaker, but also reading processed and prepared food labels for the sodium content.
* Avoid salt, sugar, dairy products, refined foods, fried foods, junk foods, and caffeine.
* Eliminate food sensitivities. Use an elimination and challenge diet to determine food sensitivities.
* Drink 50% of your body weight in ounces of water daily (e.g., if you weigh 150 lbs, drink 75 oz of water daily).
Supplements
Supplements are intended to provide nutritional support. Because a supplement or a recommended dose may not be appropriate for all persons, a physician (i.e., a licensed naturopathic physician or holistic MD or DO) should be consulted before using any product. Recommended doses follow:
* Calcium—Take 800-1500 mg daily.
* Vitamin C—Take 1000 mg daily.
* Coenzyme Q10—Take 50 mg two times daily.
* Flaxseed meal—Grind 2–4 tablespoons daily. Flaxseed meal is a better choice due to its fiber, lignan, and vitamin content, but flaxseed oil (1 tbsp daily) can be substituted.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicines rarely have significant side effects when used appropriately and at suggested doses. Occasionally, an herb at the prescribed dose causes stomach upset or a headache. This may reflect the purity of the preparation or added ingredients, such as synthetic binders or fillers. For this reason, it is recommended that only high-quality products be used. As with all medications, more is not better and overdosing can lead to serious illness and death.
These herbs are often used to treat hypertension; however, they have serious side effects if taken in large doses. It is recommended that these herbs be used only with a physician's supervision.
* Coleus forskohlii—Lowers blood pressure and improves heart function.
* Hawthorne (Crataegus oxycantha)—Has the ability to dilate coronary blood vessels, which helps lower blood pressure.
* Mistletoe (Viscum album)—Not as potent as Rauwolfia but well tolerated and nontoxic in normal doses.
* Rauwolfia (Rauwolfia serpentina)—This is considered the most powerful hypotensive botanical. Only a small dose is required to achieve results and to avoid side effects. Nasal congestion is the most common side effect.

Look, not everything in the world has a natural or herbal remedy that is safe and dependable. Aside from dietary and lifestyle changes that can help when used with medications, there aren't any. Yeah, you could chew on all sorts of herbal cures, derived from plants and such. There's no way to control the dosages of the various active ingredients, no way to even guarantee it's safe or effective to being with. So instead of waiting to stroke out, why not just do the logical thing and go see the doctor for the proper treatment? If you do, you may be able to lower it without taking medications for life. Even if you do need to, at least you will have a life to live. Or you can just wait for the pressure to kill you while you search out all natural herbal cures and see if they work.

The first thing you need to know is why your blood pressure is high. Many herbs work wonderfully well for counteracting hypertension (despite what some of the other answers have indicated), but the appropriate herbs depend on the cause of the hypertension.
No matter what the cause, Hawthorn (berries, flowers or leaves) is a must. Hawthorn is called "the nurse of the aging heart" because it improves oxygen and nutrient supply to the heart, and thus keeps the heart muscle in better condition. It also strengthens the blood vessels. The main problem with hypertension is due to the stress the extra pressure puts on the blood vessels - bursting blood vessels in the brain is the main way hypertension kills! Hawthorn alone takes a few weeks to lower blood pressure, but its other benefits make it a must in a blood pressure mix. Hawthorn can be safely taken as a tea or in tablet/capsule form.
Doses of herbal medicines are not as critical as doses of pharmaceuticals because they have a large therapeutic window - this means that their effective level is much lower than their toxic level. Most herbs do not work by "controlling" levels, but rather work by supporting the body's organs so that the body rights itself, so please don't get too caught up in the correct dose. Even if your blood pressure is low, hawthorn is safe because it helps the body regulate blood pressure rather than controlling it.
The only times hawthorn is contraindicated is if you are taking warfarin or a pharmaceutical containing cardiac glycosides like lanoxin/digitalis/digoxin. (And then it should be taken under supervision - ie see a herbalist!)
If the hypertension is associated with stress, then "nervines" can help lower pressure relatively quickly. These include valerian, oats, passionflower.
To increase the dilation of blood vessels, herbs known as diaphoretics can help, including yarrow, linden, elder.
Magnesium helps muscles relax, including the smooth muscle of the blood vessels, and a magnesium supplement can lower blood pressure quite quickly. In Australia we have an over the counter magnesium supplement that also contains crampbark, which many of my clients have found really useful.
To get a really good herbal or nutritional formula, you should visit a herbalist.
Meditation is also a very good way of lowering blood pressure.
Exercise is important, but NOT isometric exercise (exercise where you strengthen the muscles by eg pushing against a wall, without actually moving your body), weights etc. The best exercises are walking and swimming, building up slowly over time so as to not put too much strain on the blood vessels.
Coenzyme Q10 (100mg a day) and a fat-free diet (vegetable oils are good, animal fat is not) help many people.
Reducing excess weight can reduce blood pressure significantly.
If you smoke, then quitting will make a huge difference, however, be sure to adopt stress relief methods that work for you as quitting smoking can be very stressful.
Vitamin E strengthens the heart and blood vessels BUT too much will cause the heart to pump too hard giving a transient rise in blood pressure, so although you should take vitamin E, start at very low doses, as low as 50-100IU a day for the first week, and gradually increase the dose by about 50-100IU a week until 1,000IU a day.
Herbal remedies are wonderful for chronic conditions, but to get the best herbal advice, see a herbalist. Great results occur when you can find a herbalist and a doctor who are prepared to work together.

I used to take these Homeopathic remedies for my High blood pressure and depression/stress Aurum Met 30C,Bryonia 30C and Natrium Mur 30C three times a day. Now my High Blood pressure is history. I was cured after using the above for about 6 months. The answer by Soul Doctor(Homeopath) seems like the best solution to your problem just choose the medicine which seems to have the most of the symptoms you go through.

There are some seemingly knowledgeable answers posted here but with your B/P, I don't think it wise to self medicate.
You need immediate evaluation by a qualified physician to determine the cause and fast acting medications to bring your B/P under control first.
Especially if that is a consistent reading.
The top number is called the systolic reading. it is the measure of pressure within the walls of your arteries at the time your heart contracts forcing blood out of the heart and into the arteries.
The bottom number is called your diastolic reading. This is the measure of pressure within your arteries when your heart is refilling with blood and at rest.
Common sense will tell you a normal reading will have a higher systolic or top number and the diastolic number or lower number should be less than the systolic.
Soak that in for a minute and realize your reading indicates something is definitely not right and ominous.
If it is a reading done at home, recheck your equipment and pay close attention to your technique. Recheck your B/P and if you still get the same or similar reading, make an appointment asap in the morning.Tell them what your problem is.Better yet. Ask to speak to your physicians nurse or assistant and let them know so they can schedule you accordingly. If you have any symptoms such as a severe headache, chest pain, left arm pain or tingling, shortness of breath etc, call for an ambulance or have someone take you to the ER for evaluation.
If you feel fine otherwise,Continue with the physician evaluation and in the meanwhile, check your B/P about 3 or 4 times a day at regular intervals. Write down the time the reading was taken and the reading. Also palpate (feel) for the pulse in your wrist and time the beats per minute using a second hand on the clock. Write that down with the B/P. Take the readings with you when you go to the Dr. It is important to know if your B/P is spiking a reading like that or if it is a consistent reading. It also helps the Dr. evaluate your condition if he can know the rate of your pulse coincidental to your B/P reading.
A normal, healthy B/P in the average person is 120/80. But the top number can be as high as 140 before it is deemed "high" and the bottom number as high as 90.
The bottom number is considered the most important number to keep within those parameters. As you see, yours is double the highest reading deemed safe.
Your numbers also should have no more than a 40 point difference in relation to one another with the top number always being higher.
As you can see your bottom number or heart at rest is higher than when your heart exerts the maximum pressure at the point it contracts.
That is not a good thing and indicates the need for immediate evaluation for diagnosis and treatment.
Once the cause determined and treated and your B/P brought under control, then you could think about a homeopathic remedy to keep it under control with the approval of your physician.
Herbal treatment can be used safely if you know what you are doing but never underestimate them. They are not just harmless herbs that might help but have no side effects. Anything you take whether it be herbs or pharmecueticals that have an action and effect on your body can and do also produce side effects which can be serious if not fatal.
My sister nearly bled to death after having surgery because she was taking a large amount of herbal supplements, namely garlic, and failed to tell the surgeon or medical staff. Garlic has a thinning effect on the blood.
I am worried about you. Please take care of yourself and schedule an appointment asap. God's peace be to you.
Faith.

I assume you mean 180/125. If this is one of a number of readings, or has come from a 24 hour monitor, it is quite high. If it is a one off, performed in a chemist or on a home machine, it is meaningless and simply needs repeated by your GP or practice nurse.
Three things lower BP
1) Being no more than your ideal weight
2)Taking regular vigorous exercise
3)Reducing your salt intake.
If your 180/125 is a valid reading these will NOT be sufficient to normalise your BP!
If your BP is at this level your stroke and heart attack risk will be elevated and you MUST take conventional therapy to reduce this risk. I am afraid no homeopathic, herbal or natural remedy will be of any real benefit. I am disappointed and concerned that so many of the answers given include the suggestions that homeopathic remedies will lower your blood pressure. There is overwhelming evidence that they do not. Such advise, if your blood pressure is truly at this level will put your health at VERY serious risk. I am also appalled that, I presume the homeopaths, have given thumbs down to the three answers suggesting conventional therapy, as they will undoubtedly to my answer. It really shows how many poorly educated, unscientific and dangerous answers do appear on Answers!

Is it 125/80 or is it 180/125? It cannot be the way you wrote.
If it is 180/125, it is too high to think of home remedies and you need treatment.
If it is 125/80, yes, it is normal and you don't need treatment. Just remain stress free and exercise.
